Salamander has spent the last decade as a journalist at the Financial Times writing extensively on both business and politics and the arts. Her most recent role was as the UK and European Media Correspondent where she covered the corporate activities and regulation of Europe's largest media companies. In 2003, when the US initiated war in Iraq, Salamander reported from the Washington DC bureau, covering the Pentagon & State Department. Prior to joining the Financial Times, Salamander served as an aide to a senior member of the Jordanian Royal Family. Salamander has also worked at UBS and Coopers and Lybrand.

Salamander has a Masters in Economics and Development, with a specialism in the Middle East, from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University where she studied as an Emeritus scholar. She gained her BA in French from Edinburgh University. She is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Tancredi.
