Robert Hughes-Penney
Robert Hughes-Penney is a Senior Investment Director at Rathbones, based in London, with over 30 years of experience managing multi-asset, globally diversified portfolios for wealthy private clients, trusts, pensions and charities. He joined City stockbrokers Laurence Keen following an early career in the Army; Laurence Keen was subsequently acquired by Rathbones in 1995. He is a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, and spent 12 years on the Executive and Management Committees of Rathbones' main operating company.
He holds a number of civic and professional positions: he is an elected Alderman of the City of London and served as Sheriff of the City of London for 2025–26; he is Chair of TheCityUK's Business Council; a board member of the CISI and the Impact Investing Institute; and Past Master of the Guild of Investment Managers (2019–20).
