Matthew Burton

Matthew Burton is a Partner and member of Saffery's Leadership Board, based in London. He joined the firm in 2004 and became a Partner in 2006, having originally qualified as a Chartered Surveyor before retraining in the 1990s as a Chartered Certified Accountant with a Big 4 firm.

He served as Managing Partner from 2018 to 2026 and, prior to that, sat on the firm's Management Board from 2013 to 2018 with responsibility for the Private Wealth and Estates Group. His client work focuses on capital taxation for land and property owners, family succession planning, and strategic business advisory, with select relationships across landed estates and high-net-worth individuals. He was named in eprivateclient's 50 Most Influential 2023.
