Julia Bell

Julia Bell is the founder and principal partner of Parapluie, a boutique art advisory and appraisal practice based in London. She has 30 years of experience in the international art world across roles as art adviser, appraiser, curator, consultant, and art market commentator, with expertise spanning modern, post-war, and contemporary art markets from emerging to blue-chip artists. Prior to founding Parapluie in 2017, she spent 20 years in public institutions in the UK building and managing modern and contemporary fine and decorative art collections of regional and national importance, including as head of partnerships at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.

Parapluie advises private and corporate clients globally — including in the US and the Caribbean — on sourcing and purchasing art, collection management, valuation and appraisal, art and British law guidance, and corporate art programmes. Bell describes her approach as "high-touch and personal," emphasising transparent guidance on risk assessment, logistics, conservation, and collection development.
