Jo Bateson

Jo Bateson is a Private Client Tax Partner at Mercer & Hole, having rejoined the firm in November 2024 after originally training there as a graduate in 2000. She holds the ATT, CTA, and STEP qualifications, and specialises in private client tax advice for wealth creators, families, and their family offices, covering estate and exit planning, onshore and offshore trustee advisory, and international tax matters for individuals arriving in or departing from the UK.

Prior to rejoining Mercer & Hole, Bateson spent nearly two decades at KPMG, where she rose to partner in 2014 and led the firm's Family Office & Private Client team in London from 2017 to 2023. She has been recognised on eprivateclient's Top 35 under 35, Management Today's Top 35 under 35, and Tax Journal's Top 40 under 40 lists, and was named on eprivateclient's 2026 Most Influential list. She serves as a trustee of Philanthropy Impact and is a tax technical committee member for the British Business Angels Association.
