Edward Reed is a Senior Advisor at Macfarlanes, having stepped down from his role as Partner on 1 April 2025 after 22 years in that position, to focus on key client relationships. He qualified in England and Wales in 1995 and advises internationally mobile families on asset structuring, personal tax, cross-border succession planning, wills, and trusts, with considerable expertise in complex cross-border situations where legal and tax systems interact. He is a bilingual French speaker and fluent in Italian.

Reed is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and has served as past Chairman of STEP's Cross-Border Estates Special Interest Group and as a member of HMRC's Capital Taxes Liaison Group. He has authored chapters in Tolley's Administration of Trusts and The World Trust Survey (Oxford University Press).
