Charles Gothard

Charles Gothard is a Partner at Macfarlanes and heads the firm's family office group. He specialises in international private client law, advising international families, entrepreneurs, family offices, trust companies and other institutions on estate planning, succession structuring, trusts, foundations, philanthropy, and personal affairs. He is country partner for Switzerland and has significant experience in contentious UK and international trust and probate work.

He is Joint Editor of The World Trust Survey (Oxford University Press, covering 34 jurisdictions) and a co-author on the trust protectors chapter in Tolley's Administration of Trusts. He is ranked in Band One of the Chambers HNW Guide, listed as a leading individual in the UK Legal 500, and has appeared in both the Spear's 500 guide and eprivateclient's 50 Most Influential list.
