Alex Day

Alex Day is Managing Director at Big Give, the match-funding platform, where he concentrates on match funding. Founded by Sir Alec Reed in 2007, Big Give operates as an online portal helping philanthropists discover charities and, by 2025, had raised over £350 million for over 17,500 charity projects. Day credits its success to its match-funding model, which enables donors, trusts and foundations to match public donations, summarising the approach as bringing charities, philanthropists and the public together.

Big Give's flagship campaign is the Christmas Challenge, a match-funding campaign in which public donations are doubled for the participating charity; the 2024 campaign raised £44 million in one week for more than 1,200 charities, with over 1,500 charities taking part in 2025.
